Beware of Spam

Here is a sample:

Dear Customer,

This e-mail was send by admin [at] bbgraphics.com to notify you that we have temporarily prevented access to your account.

We have reasons to beleive that your account may have been accessed by someone else. Please open attached file (open.html) and Follow instructions.

The file attached, normally called "open.html" as seen in the above sample, is usually a web page that will immediately redirect the victim to various website that try to sell the usual stuff (Viagra, faux Rolex watches, etc). The poor spelling is usually a give away as well. Here at BB Graphics we have a little thing we like to call spell check. You might have heard of it.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused if you did indeed receive anything like this from "us". We're making every effort to stop, or at least stifle, these forged emails.

If you've received an email like this from us, please contact us or leave a comment below. We appreciate all the feedback we can get. Thank you!

I had the same problem with one of my domains and it came to a point where I just stopped using the site because everyone just complained about the spam. I think the domain was owned by spammers in the past and somehow go listed as a domain for them to use.

It's a shame that you had to abandon a domain purely because of spammers. I'm not exactly sure how their selection process works but it doesn't seem like a discriminatory method. They'll spoof any domain they see fit. I think the amount of years a domain has been registered for plays a crucial role, as well as the amount of times they can find the domain on the web. For example, a domain that is registered for 10 years would most likely be chosen over one that has only been around for 2 years.
